Heating & Boilers

We never stop learning.

Many homes in the Ann Arbor area still rely on radiator heat. How do we know? As your longest serving neighbor we most likely installed them. We still do. In addition to hot water and steam boilers and European-styled ductless mini-split systems, we also install and service gas furnaces. Our technicians train with the manufacturers so they learn first-hand how to build-in and maintain the systems. The training by the engineers and designers is key to insuring the most efficient setup and operation.

Boilers

When choosing a new boiler, there are many considerations:

Condensed vs. non-condensed, sealed vs. non-sealed combustion, efficiency, and more. We help you understand every option and choose the right system.

We install and maintain steam and hot-water boilers, radiators, pressure valves, safety controls, and hydronic components — keeping everything operating safely and efficiently.

Heating & HVAC Systems

Helpful Tips:

Change forced-air furnace/air conditioning filters, every 4 – 6 months to maintain efficiency and reduce motor strain.
Radiators should be bled periodically to remove trapped air – improving performance and comfort.

If you are unsure how to do these, we are happy to help. Just Call.

Heating & HVAC FAQs

Heating & HVAC Frequently Asked Questions:
If your system uses a 1-inch filter, the filter should be changed every 90 days. If the system uses a 4-inch filter, it should be changed every 3 to 6 months depending on number of people living in the home, and number of pets.
Any time of the year.
Check the drain line to see if is plugged. Then check if ice or condensation forming on your ductwork or duct line.
If your heat pump is freezing in winter, turn it off then call Hutzel.
This is a more serious problem that needs to be handled by a certified technician.
We don’t mean to answer your question with a question but, have you checked your air filter? Do you have fresh batteries in the thermostat? Is it the entire home or just a single room?
Call Hutzel, a technician can review your entire system and see where efficiencies can be made.
The answer depends on the size of the home, the square footage, the R-value of the insulation, how old your windows are and what condition they are in.
Not necessarily, but in most cases, it helps to have one uniform system with the same type of warranty and maintenance schedule.
