Courteous, swift, very competent and knowledgeable and explained the process very clearly.
We started serving Ann Arbor when horses were cars and outhouses were way in vogue. Our history is almost as long as the town of Ann Arbor’s. Throughout all the decades, the reason for our company, the mission behind it, never changed: we worked to serve our neighbors. First with hardware and paint, and then, when gas and electricity came to town, plumbing.
On May 1, 1857, August Frederick Hutzel established Hutzel and Company. Soon thereafter, Hutzel started selling and installing the latest technologies in plumbing: claw-foot bathtubs, enameled lavatories and water closets.
As the town switched from heating with coal to natural gas, Hutzel not only installed steam and hot water heating systems but started to equip the city with hot water and gas-forced air heating systems.
Today, as we continue to always be there for Ann Arbor, we service and install the latest, high-efficiency systems from hot water boilers to mini-ductless split systems.
Our factory-trained, union staff provides round-the-clock service for homebuyers and businesses. We are committed to serving our neighbors, as we’ve done for over 150 years, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Our Air Conditioner quit working so we called Hutzel. The service man not only had our AC running like it should, he also took the time to do maintenance on our furnace. What really impressed us was that he worked quickly and he had all the parts with him to complete the excellent service.
I got a new water heater from Hutzel Plumbing and Heating. They were thorough and also let me know that they could service my furnace and air conditioner. I have had problems with other service providers and Hutzel is clearly a step above the other providers.

It’s not going to be a good day when a long-awaited appliance installer says ‘I’m sorry, but you’re going to need a plumber…this gas line is so bent, it’s about to snap. Super dangerous. We can’t touch it.” I called Hutzel immediately, and within literally 15 minutes Chet pulled up in his truck, while Best Buy was still at the house. He fixed the line, rushed back to the shop for dryer tubing, installed the gas dryer, and even cleared a bathroom drain while he was here.
